Wild magic is a special type of magic, different from the standard Gift, that connects its user to the natural world around them. People who are so far mentioned having wild magic include: Veralidaine Sarrasri, Onua Chamtong, Tobeis Boon (known as Tobe; servant of Keladry of Mindelan in Protector of the Small series), Stephen (introduced in Alanna: The First Adventure as the stable manager in the Royal Stables) and Sarralyn Salmalín (daughter of Daine).

Horse Magic

It appears that wild magic is occasionally specialized to apply only to equine animals. The palace in Corus employs stable hands with these specializations, such as Stephan. Onua, for example is shown in Wild Magic to be in charge of the ponies for the Queen's Riders. Kel's servant Tobe is shown on occasion to translate for Peachblossom (Kel's horse) and to empathize with horses.

Common Wild Magic

It was shown in the Immortals series that those with wild magic usually only have a specialized type. For example, they may speak to birds, but not other animals. Since Daine is the daughter of a god, she can commune with all animals and shapeshift, but this is not usually the case. Horse magic is the most common type of wild magic. In Emperor Mage the Banjiku are introduced; the individuals introduced each had a specialized form of wild magic.
