Weiryn (pronounced WARE-inn) is a minor god in the Tortallan Universe pantheon.
Influence
Territorial designations
Weiryn is the northern god of the Hunt in the Eastern Lands. Woodsmen and huntsmen in the forests of Galla, Tusaine and Scanra are said to swear by him.
Likeness
He appears as a tall and muscular man with antlers. His skin is olive colored with traces and streaks of green in it. He wears only a loincloth and carries a longbow and quiver of arrows.
Biography
Love Affair with Sarra Beneksri
He visited the town of Snowsdale on Beltane in 435 HE[1] and took Sarra Beneksri as a lover, subsequently becoming the father of Veralidaine Sarrasri. He did not acknowledge his daughter until many years later, but maintained his relationship with Sarra, taking her into the Divine Realms after her mortal death and helping her become a minor goddess in her own right. Weiryn's choice to take Sarra as his lover was not a unique occurrence; he had met and bedded other women when crossing into the mortal realms before. These visits were far from common, however, and due to the difficulty of giving birth to a god-sired child, Daine is Weiryn's first child in 130 years. Sarra's ascension and transformation into the Green Lady seems to be a unique honor not bestowed upon Weiryn's previous lovers.[2] However, Weiryn did have other children and even grandchildren from those, although they weren't really a part of his life. Because of the novelty Daine's children present to him he really enjoys being a grandfather and he and Sarra "spoil those kids rotten".[3]
Weiryn gave a bow to Daine, his daughter while she was in the Divine Realms when he and her mother brought her there at midsummer during the Battle of Port Legann.
He is a friend of the badger god. He is a master of hunting.
Weiryn appeared in The Realms of the Gods and made another minor appearance in Trickster's Choice during one of Aly's visions.
