Princess Vania of Conté (pronounced VAHN-ee-ah of kohn-TAY) , born in 446 HE,[1] was the youngest child of King Jonathan and Queen Thayet of Tortall. She was named for an ancestor of her mother's.[2]
In 452 HE, when hurroks attacked the royal nursery, Vania and her siblings were saved by Wyldon of Cavall.[3]
While Vania had no interest in knighthood, she did ride and fight with the Queen's Ladies.[4] Although she was initially expected to make a diplomatic marriage,[5] Vania was gay and went into the service of the Goddess rather than be married.[6]
She has not been mentioned by name in the books, but only by Tamora Pierce on the internet.
