{{Quote|Alanna's desire to be the best at, and have the best of, everything, is expressed through her choice of romantic partners. The only three lovers she has ever had are, in order, Jonathan of Conté, who was the crown prince at the time and later became king; Liam Ironarm, undeniably the most legendary and acclaimed Shang fighter of her time; and George Cooper, who was the king of all of Tortall's thieves and later the royal spymaster's second-in-command. I think you could say this, but on the other hand George was a commoner and although he might have been the Rogue he still belonged to the lowest class in Tortallan society. Alanna befriended him long before he gained any real influence in Tortallan politics and they became lovers before he was made a Baron by Jon.

She fell in love with Jon not because he was the Crown Prince but because he was an intimate friend of hers and one of the few people who knew her sex. At that point she didn't have much "options" with whom to fall in love and he spent her confort when she needed it. If she only wanted the best she wouldn't have disputed with him in the desert or would have made up with him later. At the very least she would have accepted his proposal when he reminded her of it after her return to Corus from the Roof of the World.

It wasn't Alanna who made the first step in her relationship with Liam. He approached her in the inn and began talking to her, although not revealing his being the Shang Dragon immediately.

Although she did say something to George on the lines of "nobles should only be consorting with fellow nobles", this was clearly only the attempt to discourage him from pursuing her further (it was in ''In the Hand of the Goddess'' and Alanna was still intimidated by his feelings for her).

That far my immediate thoughts on reading the newest addition to Alanna's article. Feel free to comment on it or contradict me, that's why I brought it up.

The infobox mentions an "unnamed 3rd cousin" under other relations. I can't remember that any third cousin was mentioned in the books. Does anyone else have a source for this to verify the information? --[[User:Purzel|Purzel]] • [[User talk:Purzel|Talk]] 20:18, February 22, 2010 (UTC)

I think I may have heard of a 3rd cousin in Lioness Rampant but I'm not positive. If it was in the book it would be some time after she came back from The Roof of the World and before the Coronation Day Battle.---mahrimcevoy
Personally I think we should delete the passage. Her choice of lovers (who she really didn't choose, they were attracted to her) doesn't say anything about her personality. ---mhairimcevoy

Section Personality and traits

I'm not so sure about the truth of what the anonymous contributor added to the section about Alanna's personality. I didn't remove the passage, but I'd like to discuss this with you guys to hear other opinions. Here is the passage in question:

"Alanna's desire to be the best at, and have the best of, everything, is expressed through her choice of romantic partners.

Although she did say something to George on the lines of "nobles should only be consorting with fellow nobles", this was clearly only the attempt to discourage him from pursuing her further (it was in In the Hand of the Goddess and Alanna was still intimidated by his feelings for her).

That far my immediate thoughts on reading the newest addition to Alanna's article. Feel free to comment on it or contradict me, that's why I brought it up.
