Padraig haMinch (pronounced pahd-RAYG hah-MINCH) was a Tortallan nobleman who lived during the 5th century HE. He was asked to be the new training master by Jonathan IV of Conté after Wyldon of Cavall resigned. He was nominated by Myles of Olau because he was conservative and a member of the powerful ducal house, Minchi. He was born in 404 HE.[1] He has several siblings, and is a younger son. Despite not being the heir to the Minchi family, he entered page training.

Biography[]

Early life[]

Like many of his class, he went through knight training starting in 414 HE, when he was ten years old. His Ordeal of Knighthood seemed to be delayed for an unknown reason, as he became a knight in 425 HE, completing his training completely within eleven years, instead of the standard eight year training.

Military career[]

He became a captain in the regular army immediately after becoming a knight in 425. He rose through the ranks, becoming a captain of an armored company in 428, and then a colonel in command of a whole division in 432. He became General of the Southern Armies in 437 when he was 33 years of age, and retired from service only 4 years later.

Training master[]

He was appointed training master by Jonathan IV in 458 after Lord Wyldon resigned due to the death of Joren of Stone Mountain in the Chamber of the Ordeal. He did accept the post.

Physical description[]

Padraig is described as 6 feet 2 inches tall with a very muscled build. He has long grey and black hair that he usually wears in a horse tail. He has brown eyes, and tan, weathered skin. It is clear that he likes the outdoors.

As a northerner, he has a mountain burr.[1]
