Onua Chamtong was the woman who gave Daine her first job and also became Daine's first friend in Tortall. She is horsemistress for the Queen's Riders, in Wild Magic and presumably all through the series, as she is mentioned in the Protector of the Small series as still holding the job.

History

Onua was of the K'mir Raadeh. Thus she originally probably came from Sarain. Before coming to Tortall Onua was beaten by her husband and left for dead. Her dog Tahoi saved her life. Onua and Buri are old friends. It is possible that they know each other from Sarain, where the K'miri have their homeland, or they could have met once Onua arrived in Tortall.
