Nahom Jendrai (pronounced nah-HOM jehn-DRAI) was a historian and scholar who was based in Berat, the capital city of Maren during the 5th century HE. He was born as a nobleman and inherited a fief in Maren, but he put his studies first. According to Myles of Olau, Nahom was an expert on the language of the Old Ones.[1]

Biography[]

Early life and scholarly work[]

Nahom was acquainted with Alan the Lord of Trebond when he was younger according to Windfeld, the innkeeper at the Wandering Bard.[1] Nahom was also acquainted with—and better friends with—Myles of Olau, who was his teacher.[2] Sir Myles's teaching had inspired him to put his interests over being a nobleman.

Marriage and children[]

His wife primarily handled the fief, leaving her husband to his work. She was about to give birth to their sixth child in 438 HE.[2]

Tales of the Dominion Jewel[]

He met with Alanna of Trebond and Coram Smythesson to tell them about the myths and legends surrounding the Dominion Jewel, an artifact of legend. He told the pair more about the history of the Dominion Jewel, including the successful reigns of Norrin and Anj'la, two Marenite rulers who brought prosperity to Maren with the Jewel's usage. Jendrai also warned them that the Jewel should not get into the wrong hands, or disaster would follow.

He also informed them about Chitral and Lumuhu, two passes of the Roof of the World.

Appearances[]

Nahom Jendrai appeared in Lioness Rampant.
