If you are new to Wikia or wikis in general, be sure to visit the community portal for an outline of some of the main parts of the site and a link to pages that tell you how to edit. For help with wiki markup, see the editing guide. For article style guidelines, see the Manual of Style. For general help topics, see Category:Help. Any unanswered questions can be asked on the help desk forum.
Do keep an eye on the recent changes page, where all edits and their authors (anonymous or signed-in) are listed. Bookmark it, maybe. (And help delete spam - unpleasant but a fact of life.)
Discussion of any aspect of the site, and enquiries, can be made at the forum or on the discussion page associated with each article. It helps if you sign and date your contributions there (using four tildes, like this: ~~~~), so that readers know who to talk to and whether your message is probably still of current interest. If you write on a user's talk page, that user will get an alerting message on next visit.
(It would help some of us to know how you discovered this site.)
Hey Beka of Pirate's Swoop, don't worry about it. Feel free to leave messages on my talk page; it's nice to interact. I think we should delete one of them, or else it would be confusing. It's my fault mostly. Someone linked it wrongly and it looked like there wasn't a page for it, so I created one (thus the overlap). I'll delete one of them (probably the one I made). Thanks for the notification! Mk101 (talk) 17:56, December 23, 2013 (UTC)
Actually, only Purzel can delete pages (since I'm not an admin), so I'll just leave a message on her talk page. Let me know if you have any other questions or concerns though! Mk101 (talk) 17:58, December 23, 2013 (UTC)
So I know the Manual of Style says that all articles must be written in the past tense, to dispel confusion to those worlds that have two different series in two different time periods. There is only one world that does that (Tortall), Emelan does not. As articles and papers for literature must use the literary present (in the USA) when describing events for a character, my automatic impulse is to edit it, as that isn't standard. Also, the argument used in the Manual of Style for the past tense cites the reason for this is that characters in one series are almost definitely dead by the next series. For example, Rebakah Cooper would certainly not be alive during Alanna's period, which goes on the correct assumption that Cooper would have died by Alanna's time, as she is mortal, for all her ties to the gods. As the Pearl Cup Dormitories are inanimate, we can't assume that they have been destroyed without further information from the author.
Sorry, I have a talent at finding loopholes in things. If you don't agree with my reasoning, feel free to tell me, and I'll change it back.
Hey Beka of Pirate's Swoop! I noticed you haven't been on in awhile, I hope everything is going okay!
