Lokeij was a raka Copper Islander who lived during the 5th century HE. He was perhaps born before 400 HE, but his exact date of birth is unknown. Lokeij was one of the leaders of the raka conspiracy, and was a slave to the Balitang family, and served as their chief hostler. He died in 462 HE during an attack on Tanair which was launched by Bronau Jimajen[1].
Biography
Early life
Lokeij was raised with tales of the old times. He was familiar with the old raka gods, like Kyprioth and Gunapi the Sunrose, as well as their mythology. He was presumably told stories about the Kyprish Prophecy and the hope. Lokeij was perhaps born a slave to the Temaida family, which treated him like he was free. He had an affinity for horses. He likely followed Sarugani Temaida and became a part of her permanent staff once she married Mequen Balitang. He was one of the leaders of the raka conspiracy, along with Ulasim Dodeka, Chenaol, and Fesgao Yibenu. He was dedicated to serving the twice-royal daughters of Sarugani, Saraiyu and Dovasary Balitang.
Exile
Lokeij accompanied the Balitang family into exile at Tanair on Lombyn Island. He was a kind man, and was friendly to Alianne of Pirate's Swoop, a luarin slave. The conspirators at first thought Aly was just a slave, and then started to think she was a Crown spy. They didn't want to kill her though, because they liked her so much, so they waited.
Lokeij readily accepted Aly into their ranks when Kyprioth told the conspirators that Aly was supposed to be their spymaster. He was still suspicious that she was more than what she said she was, but he didn't believe her to be a Crown spy.
Once Saraiyu started her swordfighting lessons again, Lokeij was awed. He claimed that Lady Sarai looked like one of the old raka gods, Gunapi the Sunrose, when she lunged. He also had not heard of Aly's mother, Alanna the Lioness, which stung Aly.
He died during Prince Bronau's attack on Tanair[1].
Personality and traits
He's a very kind and genteel man, and took to Aly immediately. He didn't want to kill her when the conspirators thought that she was a Crown spy, but knew that they would have to. He knew that Aly was more than what she said she was, a maid from Tortall, and advised her to rub mud in her feathers to make her look more like a sparrow than a parrot.
He was dedicated to the cause of the raka conspiracy, and protected Sarai and Dove with his life.

Lokeij only appears in Trickster's Choice and dies at the end of the novel.
