Lerant of Eldorne (pronounced LAIR-rahnt of EHL-dohrn) is the standard-bearer for Third Company and devoted to Sir Raoul.
Biographical Information[]
Early life[]
Because of his aunt's implication in acts of high treason, Lerant was scorned and ostracized for most of his life. Raoul of Goldenlake took Lerant in, offering him a high position regardless of his family's treacherous name, and thus Lerant of Eldorne became the standard-bearer for Lord Raoul. Because of Lord Raoul's kindness, Lerant is fiercely loyal to the knight commander, and jealous of anyone who he thinks has the commander's favor undeservedly.
Meeting Keladry of Mindelan[]
When Kel was taken on as a squire, Lerant was very jealous of her, and confronted her directly about the matter.
While in the village of Haresfield Lerant tricked Kel into going into the wrong bags, in hopes of getting her into trouble, though his attempt failed, and Kel even refused to tell who it was who'd told her to go through the wrong bags under the pretense of, 'I don't know who it was.'
Throughout Kel's time with the Own, it is shown that, though Lerant is very jealous of Kel, he respects her greatly. Towards the end, it is hinted that perhaps there is a possibility of friendship, although one never does develop fully.
Personality[]
He has a good heart, but a temper that makes him sharp. He is also fiercely loyal to Lord Raoul.
Appearance[]
He has brown eyes and short blond-brown hair with floppy bangs.
Abilities[]
He is a good fighter.
Family[]
Lerant is the nephew of Delia of Eldorne (spelled Deliah in Squire), and was turned down from the army, navy, and as a man-at-arms, because she committed high treason against Jonathan. He comments that she was a kraken.
