Kalasin (pronounced KAHL-ah-sihn) was a K'miri princess who lived and died during the first half of the 5th century HE. She was married to the Saren warlord Adigun jin Wilima in the hopes of reconciling the hostile relationship between their two peoples. She had only one child, Thayet jian Wilima, who later became the Queen of Tortall. Kalasin's hopes of peace between the Saren Lowlanders and the K'mir were in vain, as Lord Adigun encouraged continued violence and subjugation against Kalasin's people. In protest, Kalasin committed suicide by jumping from a balcony in order to speak out against the abuse of her people. The mother and brother of Buriram Tourakom, Thayet's K'miri guard, sacrificed themselves in order to afford Kalasin the chance to commit suicide publicly, turning it into a political statement.
Legacy
Her eldest granddaughter, Kalasin of Conté, was named after her.
