Jemis of Keir (pronounced JEHM-ihs) was a member of the royal family of Tusaine. He was the younger brother of King Ain of Tusaine, and Hilam of Keir, the prime minister. He was a royal spy and worked for Tusaine's interests in the Tusaine War by taking the alias Jem Tanner and passing as a common Tortallan foot soldier.
Biography[]
Spy for Tusaine[]
Count Jemis took the alias Jem Tanner and infiltrated the Tortallan army as an undercover common soldier. He conspired with Roger of Conté, and constantly started strife and arguments in the fort. He accused Squire Alan of spying for Prince Jonathan among the commonfolk.
He helped Tusaine soldiers cross the Drell River and incapacitated the sentries—one of them Big Thor, thus launching an attack on the Tortallan camp. He helped capture Squire Alan, but was captured in turn and used as a hostage, along with Duke Hilam, before he could discover that Alan was a girl.
Appearances[]
He only appears as a minor character in In the Hand of the Goddess.
