Ira was probably born in Tharios, although one does not need to be Tharian to be able to become a yaskedasu, like with Lark.
She became a yaskedasu and specialized in dancing. She performed in Khapik, the sumptuous pleasure district of Tharios, as is required. She lived in the same lodging house as Yali, Xantha, Poppy, and some male yaskedasi. Her landlady was the coin-grubbing Ferouze. She had a daughter whom she named Glakisa in 1035 KF. It is unknown who the father was, but he was not present in Glaki's life by 1039.
Ira was murdered by a serial killer dubbed the Ghost in 1039 KF, leaving Glaki an orphan. Ira's corpse was displayed on an ornate and grand fountain in Achaya Square, which shocked the city although not because a woman was dead. Yali mostly looked after Glaki after Ira's death, until Yali's own murder. Trisana Chandler then looked after Glaki, even more so when she discovered the little girl had academic magic.
Iralima had curly black hair and light brown skin, her arms and legs well muscled from practice. She had well-tended nails and fresh, tight skin, so she was not very old. At the time of her death she wore the halter top, semisheer skirt, and tight calf-length leggings of a dancer. She also wore the yellow veil required of all yaskedasu.
Iralima only appeared as a corpse in Shatterglass, because she is the first dead yaskedasu found after the novel starts. More information about her is revealed by her friends when they talk about Ira.
