Sir Graeme of Queenscove was the oldest son of Duke Baird and Duchess Wilina of Queenscove. He was the older brother of Sir Cathal of Queenscove, Sir Nealan of Queenscove, and Jessamine of Disart. Graeme and Cathal were both killed during the Immortals War in the winter between 451 and 452 HE, and when they died, Neal suddenly found himself the heir to the dukedom.[1]

On February 4th, 452 HE, Neal formally withdrew from the Tortallan Royal University to a pursue a knighthood in their stead. According to Neal, Queenscove knights had always served the Crown as knights, including twelve on the Great Roll of Knights, and he felt it was his responsibility to serve after the loss of his brothers. Graeme and Cathal thought knighthood was the greatest service they could give.[2]
