Gissa of Rachne (pronounced GISS-ah of RAK-nee) was a powerful mage who studied at the University of Carthak with Numair Salmalín and Tristan Staghorn. She was employed by Ozorne Tasikhe, the Emperor Mage of Carthak.

Biography

Early life

Gissa studied magic at the University of Carthak. She worked for Ozorne Tasikhe, the Emperor Mage.

Treasonous plot, Dunlath

Tristan Staghorn brought Gissa to Dunlath to aid the rebellion under King Jonathan and Queen Thayet of Tortall. Gissa helped Tristan, a prominent war mage, brew Bloodrain, a substance that caused extreme pain to whatever it touched. Consuming it would mean death. Gissa and Alamid Mokhlos were the two mages who helped Tristan in his efforts.

When Numair Salmalín and Veralidaine Sarrasri were sent to investigate the missing Crown agents who disappeared in Dunlath and surrounding areas, Gissa feigned being glad to see Numair again since their school days. Both Gissa and Alamid wore the guise of traveling mages, on their way to the City of the Gods and just stopping for a brief time in Dunlath. Gissa explained their unwillingness to depart by stating that the hospitality Lady Yolane and Lord Belden showed them was absolutely divine.

During the disseminating of the Bloodrain that she and Tristan had brewed in order to poison the Crown agents who came to investigate, some of it got on her hand and she was forced to chop it off due to the pain and the spreading of the poison. She was arrested for high treason.

Physical description

Gissa is described as being dark and striking. Her Common is heavily accented.

Personality and traits

Gissa technically did not commit treason, due to the fact that she was not Tortallan nor affiliated with it. She remained loyal to Emperor Ozorne's plot, although she did not have a problem with poisoning many people in order to get the job done.
