Master Girisunika taught at the School for Mages at the Imperial University of Carthak. Even though she wasn't a master of water, she taught the Essentials of Water Magic course for the Lower Academy. She frequently informed her students that she was only teaching Lower Academy classes until an opening became available in the Upper Academy. Master Girisunika didn't think very highly of her students, and once referred to them all as "vile parasites."
She tried to humiliate a young Arram Draper by showing that he could not complete a certain spell. She was shocked and horrified to see that he could, and was scared when water started to flood the classroom. Headmaster Cosmas and Master Sebo had to intervene. It was in this moment that it became clear that Arram was far more powerful than they thought.[1]
