Sir Geoffrey of Meron (pronounced JEFF-ree of MEHR-on) was was page with Alanna, and was the son of Lord Martin. He was squire to Alexander of Tirragen. He passed his Ordeal of Knighthood the same Midwinter Alanna did, in 437 HE. After he was knighted he spent the winter in early 439 HE fighting Scanran raiders on Tortall's northern border.[2] He was the first one of Alanna's friends to duel her after her return from the Roof of the World and lost to her.
Pressumably his mother died because his father married again in 441 HE. Thus Roxanne of Haryse became Geoffreys stepmother and the five children—two sons and three girls—the lady and Lord Martin subsequently had became Geoffrey's halfsisters and halfbrothers.[3]
