Francis of Nond was part of Alanna of Trebond's group of friends when she first began her page training. He was described as Raoul of Goldenlake's "shy blond shadow." Alanna's first day at the palace Francis told Prince Jonathan what had transpired between herself and Ralon of Malven.[1] He was also part of the group of boys who found out that Ralon had beaten Alanna.[2] Francis died from the Sweating Sickness in 431 HE as a 13- or 14-year-old page or squire. Alanna feels personally responsible for Francis' death. Her guilt inspires Alanna to save Prince Jonathan from the Sweating Sickness and to train her healing gift.

He is likely related to Sir Paxton of Nond, Florzile of Nond and Merovec of Nond, Adalia of Mindelan's husband.
