|Tortallan Universe character|
Dolsa Silkweb was a powerful mage of the 3rd century HE. She is classed as a great mage and specialized in illusion magics. She aided Prince Baird's treacherous conspiracy to overthrow King Roger III. She calls Tortall her home, so she was likely born in the country, or naturalized.
To achieve her renown, Dolsa likely studied at either the City of the Gods or the Carthaki University for her magic. As she was one of Prince Baird's cohorts, and was brought by Elyot of Aspen Vale, another powerful mage who studied at the university in Carthak, it is likely that she attended that school with him. Dolsa mainly joined because she was angry that King Roger III wanted Tortallan mages to become licensed.
Dolsa became involved in Prince Baird's conspiracy, and became one of their top mages along with Elyot of Aspen Vale. She stayed at Halleburn and helped Lord Thanen's efforts. They knew that Rebakah Cooper, Sabine of Macayhill, Matthias Tunstall, and Farmer Cape made up the Hunt to stop them and find Prince Gareth, and they tried to stop them. Lord Thanen got sick of them evading their grasp, so he told Dolsa to bring them in and to stop using hirelings.
Dolsa tried to use her illusion magic on Beka, but the Beka was able to resist it for the most part. Dolsa guessed that she had protective magics on her, or was naturally resistant with little imagination. Beka was likely resistant due to either her patron god, the Black God, or The Cat, but the exact reason was never explained.
Personality and Traits
Dolsa thought highly of herself and her abilities, and used her illusion magic to make people give her the praise she thought she deserved, no matter what. She was a bit taken aback when Beka was able to resist her, and was disappointed. She killed a rabbit without question gleefully, and asked Beka to give her some of her own blood for her own magic, and would then convince Elyot to allow Dolsa to kill Beka herself. Dolsa liked to get credit for things and to be appreciated; she was sometimes quite childlike but also very shrewd at the same time.
Dolsa did not think well of Farmer Cape and majorly underestimated his magical abilities and expertise. That was ultimately her downfall.
