Diona Cooper is the younger sister of Rebakah Cooper.

Biography

She was born in 231 HE. Her mother was Ilony Cooper, who died in 244 HE. Nothing is known of her father, but he is probably another man from Beka's father, who died when Beka was still an infant[1]. Diona's younger siblings are Lorine, Will and Nilo Cooper.

Diona spent the first seven years of her live living on Mutt Piddle Lane in the Cesspool, the poorest part of Corus. One of her mother's men once tried to sell her as a slave. The buyer was already getting the papers when Beka and their mother arrived, telling the man he had no right to sell Diona.[2]

In 238 HE, Lord Gershom took them in and Lady Teodorie now provides for Diona and Lorine. Diona is studying to be a lady's maid and Lady Teodorie will provide her with a good place once she is ready. The lady has already put aside a dowry for Diona and Lorine[3].

In 249 HE, after Beka is successful in finding and saving the young Prince Gareth, Lord Gershom procures a position among the queen's seamstresses for Diona and Lorine.[4]

Personality and traits

Apparently Diona thinks very highly of Lady Teodorie. Beka even voices the opinion that her sister likes the lady more than her older sister.[5] This seems to be true as she doesn't try to speak to Beka, although her younger sister and brothers do. The reason for this is Beka's choice of profession. However, Diona's opinion of Beka seems to have improved after her great hunt in 249 HE, because Lord Gershom sends Beka a uniform which was made by her sisters "with pride".[4]
