Corus is the capital city of Tortall[1].
Contents
Location and layout
Corus stretches across the northern and southern banks of the Olorun River. It is situated on the western side of Tortall near the coast.
Districts[2]
Corus is divided into different districts[3]. There are 8 different districts of Corus.
- Highfields District
- Prettybone District
- Unicorn District
- Palace District
- Flash District
- Upmarket District
- Patten District
- The Lower City
Both Highfields District and Prettybone are located to the north of the River Olorun. The rest are located to the south. Each district has its own guard station, and it is how the Provost's Guard splits up its people in order to best protect the city. Unicorn, Upmarket, and a bit of Patten are the wealthier districts, same with Highfields and Prettybone.
The Temple District, located south of the Common, does not require the Provost's Guard as it employs its own people.
Culture
In the capital people of different nationalities and professions could be found as could exotic fruits and other products. Especially on market days, many people from the countryside came to the city, which made Corus look especially bright[4].
Residents
A list of all the named residents who are mentioned or appear in the books. The list is found in Terrier[5].
