Chime is a magic glass dragon accidentally created by Kethlun Warder. She has lightning running through her veins as a result of her maker's magic becoming infused with lightning. When she "speaks" she makes the sound of clinking diamonds. [1]

After Tris, Kethlun, and Niko return to Winding Circle, she moves with Tris into Daja's House. During her stay in Summersea she meets Duke Vedris and instantly gains his affection.[2]

She then accompanies Tris to Namorn where she becomes popular in the Empress's court. She remains with Tris after the girl stays behind in Dancruan while her friends escape the country. She then journeys with her to meet everyone at the border.

Eating

She has a tendency to eat anything she can, and when something doesn't agree with her she throws it up.[1] But when she eats something agreeable (such as colored powder) she shoots fire that's the same color of the thing she consumed, and one can observe the food being passed through her clear body.
