Camoc Oakborn

Template:Circle mage Camoc Oakborn (pronounced KAM-ok) is an ambient carpentry mage based in Kugisko, a city in Namorn.

Biography

Early life

It is assumed that Camoc was born in Namorn, although it is unknown exactly if this is true.

Camoc attended the University of Lightsbridge in Karang where he got his mage's credential, certifying him as a practitioner of carpentry magic. He attended Lightsbridge with Dedicate Initiate Crane of Winding Circle and talked about him later with Frostpine.

Craftsman

Oakborn opened a shop in Kugisko, a large warehouse that did all manner of workings. It had several stories and many employees. He teaches quite a lot, but does not usually handle beginners, just those who have studied for a while. One of his apprentices was Arnen.

In 1039 KF, the smith mage Daja Kisubo visited his shop to ask him if he would consider taking Niamara Bancanor on as a student. He expressed disbelief that a girl from a wealthy family would be willing to work in such conditions, and asked Daja if the Bancanor family would even allow a daughter of theirs to work with him. Daja assured him that Nia would not shirk her work, but Oakborn did not seem to believe her. This made Daja have a low impression of the mage, to make a judgment about Nia without even meeting her. He also pointed out that as he rarely handles beginners, Nia would be placed under the watchful eye of an apprentice.

Oakborn later tested Nia to see if she would be good in his shop. She was able to identify all types of wood except for a few. When Nia proclaimed that she would not see any other carpentry mages except this one, even Oakborn tried to convince her that she should at least see others. Nia declined, saying that she felt at home in Oakborn's large and noisy shop.

He later attended a party hosted by the Mages' Society of Kugisko and run by Master Northice, the head mage. Daja learned that he is acquainted with Heluda Salt and seemed to have a very friendly relationship with her, perhaps even a romantic one, judging by the way the greeted each other and talked with each other.

Physical description

Camoc is a tall, raw boned man. He is white with curly red and grey hair. His bushy eyebrows form caves for his pale blue eyes.

Personality and traits

Camoc does not give a good first impression when he judges Nia without even meeting her. He is hardened and does not have a good view of wealthy people. He is fair, though, and agrees to take on Nia when he sees that she is indeed up to the task of learning in his shop.

He does have a sense of humor, and a good disposition if he already knows the person, such with Heluda Salt and Frostpine.
