Arram Book 2

Hello all!

Just a quick update on the second Arram book. It's been a long time in the making, but Book 2 in the Numair Chronicles series (name not yet released) is complete and is currently with the editors! The last update I've seen from Tammy's team announced the completion of the book on 4 January 2023. No release date has yet been set. This will be the second book of Arram's/Numair's trilogy that was announced back in 2016.

As I receive further information on the release of Tammy's latest novel, I will update this community.

Tempests and Slaughter Updates

Hello everyone!

I recently did a quick scan through Tamora Pierce's official facebook page (TAMORA PIERCE, FANTASY AUTHOR) to make sure we have all the information for the new books about Numair Salmalín. There are a few changes to past updates. Tempests and Slaughter, recently titled The Gift of Power, will be published on an unknown date in 2018. It will still feature Numair Salmalín while living in Carthak. The new title was released in a facebook post made on November 10th, 2016, and the new publication year was alluded to in a post made on September 30th, 2016. It is unknown if the series title will change completely as well, as in her Nov 10th post, she referred to the new book as Arram #1.

There are sure to be more changes in the future…

Adding citations

How to add citations:

Go to Source Mode. To do so, click edit on a page and in the scroll down menu with three bars, choose Source. In Source you can use HTML style for wiki.

1. To add citation that only comes up once in article:

Be sure to italicize the title of the book by using two separate apostrophes before and after the word (as seen in the examples). You don't need to do the publishing company for every single reference, but please do so if there are specific page numbers or if you skip to different editions with page numbers.

Thanks! Let me know if there are questions and I will do my best to answer them!

Introducing Magewhisper

Hi, I'm Magewhisper, also known as Sarah.  Why I chose Neal's warhorse's name as my username I don't remember... but anyway... I've recently gone back and reread all of Tammy's Tortall books, from A:TFA to Mastiff, and then while searching through Google happened upon this wikia, which apparently I created an account for years ago and simply forgot about.  Now I'm back and thought I'd actually contribute to it, since I have just reread all the books and the stories are fresh in my mind.  I first read A:TFA when I was 11 years old, and have ready every one of Tammy's books since, and most of her short stories as well.  My copies of A:TFA and ITHOTG are held together with masking tape they've been read so many times.  Definitely well-loved b…

Meeting Tammy IRL

So... As a fan, I've always dreamed of meeting Tammy in real life, but have also always known that that would probably never happen. I live in Denmark, which is a small country in Europe/Scandinavia and as such never expected Tammy to visit. Of course I never even considered that I could just pay for a plane ticket and come se her somewhere else, but that's not really relevant.. :P

What I wanted to share with you, was my experience, when it actually happened last year. Tammy visited Denmark - and she will probably never do so again - and I was lucky enough to be able to go see her. My mom (of course) said to me; "Don't get your hopes up. You've only read her books. She might not be, as you expect." But.. Yeah.. I couldn't help myself. I got…

Hello fellow Contributors

Hello,

I've been a fan of Tamora Pierce's books since the late nineties, I've been looking through several articles to see if I can condense or even expand any of them. I keep all the books I have of hers next to my desk on my bookshelf so if ever I need to reference them I just reach over and flip through. If anyone needs help with coding, formatting, or even referencing help, I will gladly offer my assistance ^-^

Also, since I do enjoy to draw, and have drawn an image for Jump’s page, I will draw things for other pages as well (mostly animals I think, I’m not that good with people). Anyway it’s a great pleasure to help expand this wikia.

My DeviantART Page if you wish to see some of the other things I've drawn.

Hello and Help

Hi everyone, I have two reasons for writing this blog post.

Firstly I wanted to say hello and that I have been a huge fan of all of Tamora Pierce's Tortall books since I was a child, and I hope to continue editing andsharing on this wikia for a long time.

Also, I wanted to ask for some help. I updated a stub article, but I can't seem to figure out how to delete the stub category on the article. If someone could help, that would be great. Thankyou!

Standards of Linking

Linking is appropriate for when the first time a character's name appears in an article (as it has been done in the past.) This really makes the article look sharp, and not blue all over. Re-link if you go into a different section of the article, or if the article has many senction, but re-link only once per section. Don't link the name of the article to the article itself. For example, don't link Rebakah Cooper to Rebakah Cooper as the reader would already be on that page, and would honestly just be confused.

Hi Everyone!

Hi Everyone,

I, Beka of Pirate's Swoop, am a relatively newish contributor to this wiki and I just wanted to express how great this wiki is.  I am an avid Tamora Pierce fan and have read all of her books, most of the multiple times and I also own many of them, but I was not aware of the vast amount of info that Tamora has out on the internet regarding characters and future books, which this wiki makes available to anyone easily.  I hope to get into a regular schedule of editing sometime in  the near future.  Thanks so much and hi all!

Need help for fanfiction

Hi I am working on a fanfic and I was hoping someone could help me. Could some explain to me what exactly Cooking and Carpenter Magic is? I have been trying to find the books online to read but I cant find them anywhere and I have o ky been able to the first series and part of the 2nd series. If anyone could give me some examples of what they can do or explain to me what all they can control would be much appreciated. Like so far I know that a person made some they did tell was a murder or something like that but I want to know what they can really do. Thank you in advance.

New Circle Universe Book

A recent blog post on Tamora Pierce's prive livejournal seems to reveal the title of the next book in the Circle Universe. In the blog entry titled "Catching Up" Tamora Pierce mentions that she will be working on "Battle Magic". This title would fit the topic of the next book, which is to be set during a war in Yanjing and featuring Briar Moss, Evvy and Rosethorn. So "Battle Magic" seems to be at least the working title of the next book.

I think the title would fit the book (from what we know so far) very well and it would also fit into the scheme that Tamora Pierce's books often tend to have two-word titles or one-word titles recently we've had only two exceptions to this rule (The Will of the Empress and Tortall and Other Lands: A Collectio…

Belated update (administratorship, Mastiff and other things)

I've been busy with my studies, so unfortunately I haven't been as frequent with giving updates as news as I used to. Unfortunately I can't promise that it gets better. But I can assure you that I'm still here, looking after things and trying to fit in as much time as I can for the wiki.

This gets me to my first point for this update: I think it would be best to have another, more active admin, so if anyone with in-depth knowledge of Tamora Pierce's books and preferably also MediaWiki/Wikia experience, would like the position and has enough time, please let me know. I have to say that I would first ask for about a month's worth of active participation in the wiki to make sure we find a competent person. The best way would be an answer to th…

Mastiff news

On my daily check of Tamora Pierce's livejournal I was at first overjoyed by this entry, which states that the first draft of Mastiff is finished and counts 660 pages; about 100 pages more than Bloodhound. Pierce plans on finishing the rewrite by the end of March.

The bad news of her entry's title phrase follows in the form of a surgery with rehab afterwards for which I wish her the best of luck and a quick recovery.

New design

Thanks to Denizine the wiki has a new skin. It's more colorful than our old design and has a lovely background image with pictures of different covers of Tamora Pierce's books. If you come across anything that still needs to be tweaked, just let me or Denizine know and we'll see what we can do about it.

By the way: a watchful editor has informed me that Mastiff is now set to be released in November 2011. This is a more definite release date than the ones known before, so I hope we'll have the book in hands by the end of next year.

News concerning the new short-story collection

I just noticed that Tamora Pierce has made another post on her public livejournal. In it she gives some details concerning the future short story collection, Tortall and Other Lands: A Collection of Tales, which is scheduled for publication in February, 2011.

These are the already published stories featured in this collection: Plain Magic, Testing, Time of Proving, Huntress, Mimic, Student of Ostriches, Elder Brother, The Hidden Girl and The Dragon's Tale.

Two new stories mentioned by Tamora Pierce are Lost, featuring a Tusaine girl, and Nawat.

You can read the full post with details to the stories on Tamora Pierce's livejournal.

The short story collection has a name and publication date

Just browsing and not really looking for any news I came upon this: The product page for Tamora Pierce's planned short story collection on amazon.com. We finally have a name for the upcoming book, Tortall and Other Lands: A Collection of Tales, as well as a publication date, February 22, 2011. Here's the product description:

Audiobook updates

The release date for the Realms of the Gods audiobook, produced by Full Cast Audio, has been pushed back again. Originally scheduled for release in 2009 it was then postponed to mid-April this year and has since been moved again. Full Cast Audio's website now lists it as being published in mid-June this year. So all that remains for us to do is wait and see if it will be released in June.

By the way the Magic Steps audiobook, also produced by Full Cast, announced for some time now, originally listed to be released in mid-May (which I suspect was just to give some date, because it looked quite improbable) is now scheduled for release in mid-October, which seems probable but could very well be pushed back again.

Short-story collection and other publications

When visiting Tamora Pierce's website today I noticed that the listing of upcoming publications on the left had a new entry: A short-story collection with both already known and new content is to be published this year. Pierce had already mentioned this collection in December, when responding to the question about her progress on Mastiff, that she was at that time finishing three stories for the collection, before she would return to Mastiff.

I certainly think that this is good news. It means something new from Tammy this year - if the release date is not pushed back, which I really hope will not occur - and shorten the waiting time for Mastiff. It'll be great to have her short stories together in one place and I certainly do look forward to n…

Spotlight

UPDATE Some time ago I requested a spotlight for our wiki, because I was of the opinion that we met the criteria and that it would bring some attenton from other wikians to the site. Earlier today my request was approved, so that one of those three small buttons on the buttom of every wikia-page might soon say "Tamora Pierce Wiki". However, I can't tell you when exactly we'll be spotlighted. There are still some other sites in queue before us. But I've also noticed that the list was worked down quite quickly lately, so it could be anything between quite soon and in the far future. Just keep your eyes open.

There are no Tamora Pierce related news. The Realms of the Gods is still scheduled to be released as audiobook on April 15 this year, but …

Manual of Style II and a plea for opinions

After I gave you over a month more time to give your opinions on the proposed changed to our Manual of Style I read over it again and put my draft up as the new official Manual of Style. If any problems with it arise feel free to bring them up, either here, on the manual's talk page or in the community forums. To make it more prominent I've also added a link to our Manual of Style to the sidebar at the left. For the same reason I've added a link to the to do list.

I also wanted to remind everyone to give their opinions on how we should images (especially which images to include in articles) in the forums. Recent talk page entries show that opinions on the subject--totally understandably--vary. Discussing different opinions helps to solve ex…

Provests Guard Series

I love the Beka Cooper books! I have a crush on Matthias Tunstall. I'll say it flat out. I just have a thing for tall guys. You know I didn't find out about Bloodhound until i picked up a cassete version of Terrier to listen to over my summer break. It said Book One on it. I freaked out. So when we got home I looked up Terrier on Amazon.com then I found Bloodhound. Well I'm in the middle of it for the second time. I was thinking of Matthias Tunstall at Tae Kwon Do for some reason. So when I got home I looked him up. I found this site and learned about the upcoming book Mastiff. I like Mastiffs. Comparing Beka to a Mastiff if you think about is just right! I have discovered the song Dreams by Cranberry fits when the Shadow Snake kills himslef. I…
