Adigun jin Wilima was the third jin Wilima warlord-ruler of Sarain. He married a K'miri princess, Kalasin of the Hau ma tribe, and they had one child together, Thayet jian Wilima, who later became Queen of Tortall. Adigun died in 439 HE, having been overthrown and executed by one of his nobles. His death started a brutal civil war.
Early life, marriage
Adigun was raised by warlords in a probable militaristic fashion. He was raised with the misogynistic and racist ideals of his family, and didn't believe women should have any power at all. He also hated the K'miri nations even though he married one of their princesses. Kalasin married him because she believed that she could change his mind about the K'miri and help end the brutality. They had only one child, a daughter, Princess Thayet. As Thayet was a girl, she could not inherit, and Adigun did not want her to. He was never satisfied with only having a daughter, and ordered all priests to pray daily for a son.
Adigun ascended the throne in 434 HE. His reign was continually bloody, and there was still unrest between the Lowlanders and the K'miri. Kalasin killed herself in protest to the brutality her people faced at Adigun's hands, leaving only Thayet.
Adigun died in 439 HE, either of illness or poison. At his death, there was a huge surge of people clawing to get to the throne, since Princess Thayet could not inherit. Dusan zhir Anduo, one of Adigun's earlier rivals, wished to marry Thayet and take power. Dusan's interest was one of the reasons why Thayet was turned away from sanctuary in the temples. The princess was forced to flee the country with her servant Buriram Tourakom.
Dusan zhir Anduo was not able to secure the throne however. Adigun's final successor did his best to restore order and peace in Sarain.
Adigun is assumed to have a very strong nose, as it is said that Thayet inherited her strong nose from her father, thus making her face more normal rather than inhumanly beautiful. Not much else is known about his physical attributes.
Thayet does not remember her father fondly, as he was mostly to blame for her mother's suicide. He is, however, the ancestor of all inheriting members of the Conté family, as well as the ancestor of the heir to the Carthaki throne. His legacy in Sarain is marred by his brutal treatment of the K'mir tribes, which his successor did his best to ameliorate.
He never appeared in any of the novels himself, but was mentioned in Lioness Rampant, mostly in reference to the condition in Sarain or to his daughter.
